GameFi Decrypted: Alien Worlds & TLM explained

We’ve always been interested in developments around gaming and crypto. In games, the goal is always to amass either land, status, wealth or power. Bringing crypto together with gaming is a no-brainer for any gaming entrepreneur.

Alien World’s fits the category.

The game has become the fastest-growing NFT game, enabling users to earn crypto in-game. It now takes the top spot among dApp games and is second among all dApps by 30-day users. Within five months since its launch late last year, the game’s user base crossed 2.1 million and counts over 3.3 million users today. This “DeFi Metaverse” is a blockchain-based game and free to play for anyone.

What is Alien Worlds?

Alien Worlds is an NFT-centric metaverse on the Ethereum, WAX, and Binance Smart Chain blockchains. The game focuses on exploration and mining. It enables players to own land, use minions to fight war, collect tools and avatars, and earn crypto.

Once you’re in the game, you take on the guide of an explorer in the year 2055. Your mission is to explore the metaverse, go to different planets, and mine their resource: Trilium. You can earn Trilium (TLM) for mining and have a chance to mine an NFT game card each time you mine.

Have a look at this cool trailer. When placed against other exploration and strategic space games, it’s clear why crypto’s extra dimension makes this among the most explosive and popular games out there now.

How to mine Trillium?

After getting a WAX Cloud Wallet and logging in at, explorers will receive a simple tool to begin mining. Trilium can be used to stake to one or more of six planets and register to become a planetary councilor and potentially even planetary ruler.

Alien Worlds is effectively a virtual gamified economy where players compete for the scarce resource, Trilium (TLM), which they use to boost their power by staking and voting in Planet Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (Planet DAOs). Both planets and players compete for TLM, leading to competition as well as collaboration or alliances between groups.

Trillium’s utility

TLM can be used in Alien Words in a variety of ways:

  • Mining: With the right NFTs, players can mine TLM from planets.
  • Staking: Players can stake TLM to earn rewards in TLM and NFTs. Players can also stake Trilium to Planets to increase the Planet’s reward pool.
  • Governance: Holders of TLM can participate in weekly elections for council candidates.
  • Trade NFTs: Players can trade NFTs on WAX. These NFTS can be used for mining or in-game missions.
  • Cross-chain bridge: It is possible to transfer TLM between BSC, WAX, and Ethereum.

The total supply of Trilium is finite and set at 5 billion with an inflation of 9% per year, 7.64% in the 2nd year, and so on. As of now, the circulating supply of Trilium stands at 914,030,370.25 TLM.
