DeFi Kingdoms (JEWEL) explained

DeFi Kingdoms explained

DeFi Kingdoms (DFK) is a browser-based pixel art game that cleverly integrates DeFi functionality with game elements. Built on the Harmony Network, it is considered to be the most successful and early crossover between DeFi and NFT to date. But unlike other games that have the same feature, DeFi Kingdoms has found a way to combine gaming and financialization organically. Its DEX uses the Uniswap V2 Protocol that enables users to swap tokens and provide liquidity to earn fees.

JEWEL is the game’s main token of value and is built and traded on Harmony One via the Uniswap V2 Protocol. The token can buy in-game NFTs like Land, Heroes, and Kingdoms. JEWEL is also a staking and governance token, giving holders access to exclusive perks. Its current 24-hour trading volume is $5,910,063 and the token has a market cap of $2,178,516.14.

Tokenomics

The token has a maximum supply of 500,000,000 with a circulating supply of 63 million as of writing. The remainder of the tokens will be distributed to DFK via a yield farming mechanism.

The initial supply of 10 million tokens was pre-mined and distributed as follows:

  • 50% towards game development
  • 20% to form the original liquidity pool
  • 20% towards marketing
  • 20% to the founding time

Use cases

Among its many functionalities, the JEWEL token is primarily used to purchase in-game NFTs such as Kingdoms, Heroes, and Equipment, as well as items and weapons that will later be used in the eventual combat game.

The tokens are also used to provide liquidity, allowing holders to earn a yield through staking. Since the DFK ecosystem also includes a DEX, proceeds of JEWEL transactions are proportionately rewarded to the game’s investors. These transaction fees are deposited into the bank to reward xJEWEL holders, which are then recycled back to the treasure and returned to the players as quest rewards.

The JEWEL token is also a governance token, which means that holders have a say in the game’s growth and development, as well as how the token supply will be allocated in the future.

Ecosystem

What makes DeFi Kingdoms stand out from countless other play-to-earn projects is that it’s a nostalgic form of pixel art game with so much lore to keep players engaged. But beyond that, it’s also a decentralized exchange, a utility-driven NFT marketplace, and a liquidity pool all in one space, making it a great introduction to Web3 and DeFi investing.

The DeFi ecosystem has these key features:

  • The JEWEL Token – in addition to being the ecosystem’s prime token of value, JEWEL can be used for buying various NFTs and in-game buffs, which help players win quests and earn rewards.
  • The DEX – DFK also has a decentralized exchange at its core and it uses the tested and proven Uniswap V2 Protocol. This allows users to provide liquidity to the pools of their choice within the game, so users won’t have to switch between platforms and apps to trade tokens.
  • The Garden – In the heart of DFK is the Gardens, which allows players to stake Liquidity Providing tokens in exchange for JEWEL tokens. This element of the game is what makes DFK both a robust and enjoyable project.
  • The Heroes – These are the main NFTs and the bread and butter of DFK. The Heroes are playable characters of the game, which players can level up and use to earn JEWEL by doing in-game tasks. Each hero is distinct from others as there are unlimited combinations of parts and traits.
  • The Kingdom – Land is a sought-after resource in the game and part of the gameplay is to construct unique kingdoms and maintain them. These kingdoms are visible on DFK’s world map.

Where to buy/sell JEWEL

If you’re looking to get started on DeFi Kingdoms, you’ll need a self-custody wallet like the Coinbase wallet. You can purchase these tokens in the most significant crypto exchanges. These include AAX, as well as BigONE, Hotbit, MEXC, and CoinEx.

Future roadmap

DeFi Kingdoms has a lot of potential to become a fruitful investment, given the flexibility the ecosystem provides. The game’s roadmap has seven phases, three of which have been achieved, including building the community, introducing the token as an in-game currency, and releasing the world map. The rest are still being developed, which are outlined in this white paper. Despite still being in its infancy, the game is already crushing other P2E games in terms of trading volume.
